研究の目的：
本研究プロジェクトは、昨年度に終了した連鎖形成と解釈を主題とした科研プロジェクトの研究成果を基にし、自然文法に存在する連鎖及び寄生空所など類似依存関係をミニマリストプログラムの理論的観点から多角的に研究することを目的とする。様々な言語を調べ、連鎖に類した依存関係が観察される環境及びこれらの依存関係が連鎖と見なされる条件を明らかにし、連鎖と同じ解釈メカニズムが適用されるかを分析する。又、統語構造を派生する出発点に用いられる入力語彙項目要素の役割についても検討する。最終的に、新たに得た知見を連鎖形成と解釈の研究に還元し、理論的にも経験的にも普遍的な研究基盤を確立すること目指す。

The purpose of the proposed research project is to investigate a variety of approaches to chain-like dependencies in grammar, such as control, parasitic gaps, across-the-board dependencies, adjunct dependencies, and other long-distance operator dependencies, within the minimalist program for linguistic theory, by focusing on the role of the input to derivations and the processes that map this input to interpretations. In particular, we will attempt build on the results of a previous project on the mechanisms underlying the formation and interpretation of chains in grammar, attaining a higher level of knowledge on these issues, and extending our empirical coverage to a much wider range of constructions and languages.
